Hi - I'm Carolyn Georgen. My husband Dick and I just celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary in January! We have two wonderful boys, Michael and Stephen. Michael is 16, 6' 2" and weighs 140 lbs. I wish I could say the same for myself! Anyway, he has been going through the teenage angst period, but we are seeing light at the end of the tunnel. He is actually a great guy with his only vice being a propensity to procrastination. I guess if that's all I have to complain about for a teenager, it's not much these days. We also have great conversations! So I'm very happy with the way his teenage years are going. (so far...!) :-)

Stephen just turned 12 in December. He was diagnosed with RTS when he was 2 1/2. He didn't let that slow him down! Our most problematic years were before that, anyway. I'll save that for another longer e-mail. He is in 6th grade - his first year in middle school - and is in special ed, but is very close to grade level in some subjects. His most difficult areas are writing (creative) and handwriting. He is a whiz at spelling and great at math (though division has been a little bit of a roadblock). Stephen also has ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) (or whatever they're calling it this month) and OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) and is growth hormone deficient. He takes shots of growth hormone every day because he doesn't produce his own. We're not sure what caused this - it's not a "normal" sign of RTS. He's still on the short side, just a little over 4 feet. So, with 6 ft Mike and 4 ft Steve, we have Mutt and Jeff!

Well, I'm running on here, so I will cut this short (ha ha). I am a "talker", so be prepared!

Sorry it took me so long to get this out - I started this morning, but was distracted. Oh - I work for a part of The Nature Conservancy in Leesburg, Virginia (I'm the jack of all trades and computer expert extraordinaire), and my hubby works for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at their new training center in Shepherdstown, West Virginia.

Okay - that's it for now!

Talk to you later! Carolyn - living in the land of testosterone (1 hubby, 2 sons, and 2 male cats!)
