My name is Scotty Broderson, and I live in Lubbock, Texas. My mom decided it was time to update my page a little bit since I’m now 18, so here’s the latest from my world.
In June of 2002, my mom and dad made a very tough decision, but we all think it was a good one. I now live in a foster home with a nice lady named Anna. My house is just a few blocks away from my mom and dad, so I get to visit home a lot. Now I have two moms to take care of me, so I am more spoiled with love than ever before! My brother Charlie is in college and will be a teacher some day. I love my brother Charlie a lot.
I attend a high school in our neighborhood and may possibly stay there until May of 2006. We work hard at school and do a lot of things to raise money for our classroom activities. Sometimes I participate in Special Olympics. I enjoy bowling a lot.
In July of 2000, my mom took me to Cincinnati to see Dr. Rubinstein and have surgery done on my knees by Dr. Charles Mehlmann. It was quite an airplane ride, especially coming home on that tiny plane with two full-length leg casts. Everyone at the hospital there was so nice. The Special Friends Foundation helped my mom pay for a lot of the medical and travel expenses. She and my dad are very grateful to them. My knees are strong now, but I'm still not walking. I am in a wheelchair all the time, except when I'm scooting all over the floor or standing in my stander at school. My therapists say I'm not walking because I'm a little stubborn. I guess maybe I am!
I had my tonsils and adenoids removed a few years ago. This sure did help a lot, and I’m not sick much at all anymore. I love to eat, especially McDonald's Big Kids Meals. Anna is a great cook and takes good care of me. I still enjoy watching all my videos in my room and building puzzles and blocks. Everyone understands most of my signs when I need something. Most of the time, I am a happy guy.
Thanks for visiting my page. Come back any time!!!
