Hi my name is Rachel Alongi and I was born with RTS, I am 28 years old.

I went to college for two half years and I enjoyed that a lot, it wasn't meant for me to be a college student. I wanted to prove I could do college years on my own and I tried my hardest to prove it to myself. I quit that after awhile, I then started to volunteer at a nursing for two years. I truly loved the elderly folks, they made me laugh with their attitudes, I would play Skip-bo with them, I was very addicted to the game, I needed a job and so I turned to Columbia Industries to help me finally to help me get a job, I had a job interview at Lowes May 2006. After the job interview I felt like I didn't get the job, but I was hoping I was going to get the job and I got the phone call I was waiting for early Monday morning, I said sleepy from the lady from Columbia Industries, you're saying I got the job, I said thank you. As I got off of the phone, I yelled "I GOT THE JOB" REALLY excited and I was so thrilled I finally got a job!! I didn't care really what it was, the hours were really good 7 am - 1 pm Not bad hours, Lowes wasn't meant for me after two months, I couldn't handle it the heat and just the watering plants wasn't meant for me.

My boss transferred me over to Shop CI (Columbia Industries thrift store), and she saw it in my body language that's where I was meant to be. I love my Job and I couldn't be any happier, I love waking up in the Morning knowing I have to get up and go to work and getting paid for what I love to do and I love the people I work with and for, they are always so nice to me, they see me as a person not someone with disabilities.

smallThis is picture of me I just took :)
