I'm Special Too!

My name is Michelle, John Michael is my brother.

He's really hard to live with. He's so different from any  other.

His mind is like a two-year-old, his body like a ten.

His age is really 13. He's as strong as some grown men.

I get embarrassed when we go out and things don't go his way.

He makes a really big scene in public. "Excuse us" is all we can say.

He cries or screams or hits at us, 'cause that's all that he can do.

You see my brother can't talk to us, if only we just knew

What he wants or needs in these trying situations

Maybe we could prevent the scenes by meeting his expectations.

I wish God had asked me first before putting me in this place

I don't think I would have agreed to it but now I love this race

To get attention from my Mom, but he usually gets the most.

I guess I understand why, but I get tired of being a ghost.

I know my Mom does the best she can to work and still take care

Of a husband and two children, one of which can't comb his own hair.

I get discouraged a lot and wish John Michael would go away,

But then my mom takes me in her arms and I hear her say,

"God chose you special, to care for this treasure, the way that he chose me.

To love John Michael and care for him. Without us where would he be?"

So I dwell upon the joy he brings, I do love him with all my heart.

Now I'm glad God didn't ask me, but just chose me to play this part.
