Trials of a Treasure

My name is John Michael. I'm a different kind of child.

To some who don't know me I may seem a little wild.

But God just made me special and gave me to someone

Who could bear the burden of a very special son.

From the day I arrived until the day I go to Heaven

I will have trials and frustrations. And I can't even

Talk to Mom and Dad like normal children do.

To ask questions and get answers, or just say "I love you".

I get so frustrated that I often just scream and cry.

And that upsets Mommy because she doesn't know why.

We sometimes cry together and she does the best she can

To care for all my needs. She's my biggest fan!

Some people have a problem. They don't understand the way

I have rituals for everything that I do everyday.

My brain doesn't function like a normal person's does.

And I know I'm a lot of trouble because

I can't bathe myself, brush my teeth, or even comb my hair.

I'm completely dependent on my family for my total care.

But they do it with such love like it really gives them pleasure

To care for me, John Michael, Heaven's Special Treasure.

Thank you, God, for picking out this family just for me.

To be the one to help me to become the best that I can be.
